Trade Year 2018 Conference

ZSSK CARGO presented its pricing and sales policy for the next year at conference Trade Year 2018 held in Podbanské on October 26. The changes reflect the current situation on the markets across the Central European region and the expected trend of development.

During the first block of the conference invited speakers made their presentations. Peter Šulko, the Head of department at the Trade Section of ŽSR, spoke about the contemplated changes in access to the railway infrastructure and in the charges for its use, as well as about the current and planned restrictions on the railway infrastructure due to the modernization of corridors and the renewal and maintenance of railway lines. Operations Director of Bulk Transshipment Slovakia (BTS) Attila Miklós presented a contribution concerning the modernization and implementation of new workplaces within the processes of the border-crossing station of Čierna nad Tisou. BTS is a joint venture of ZSSK CARGO and the Budamar logistics group, and engages in the transshipment of bulk substrates in Čierna nad Tisou. During the next program Marián Šimlovič, the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of Intercargo, had a presentation. Intercargo is a transport company operating in Poland and controlled by the aforementioned company BTS. At the end of the first discussion block Štefan Adamec, an advisor to the State Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, delivered a lecture giving a detailed account of China's investment initiative, the so-called New Silk Road, and of Slovakia's activities in response to this initiative.

During the second discussion block the conference participants heard presentations by three division directors of ZSSK CARGO - the Operations Division Director, the Rolling Stock Maintenance and Repair Division Director, and the Trade Division Director. They presented comprehensive information about ZSSK CARGO's activities in the rail freight market during this year and about the plans and intentions of the company for the next period.
