Based on the decision of the Ministry of Transport and Construction of the Slovak Republic, as the sole shareholder of Železničná spoločnosť Cargo Slovakia, a. s., Ing. Roman Gono was elected a member of the Board of Directors and at the same time appointed Chairman of the BOD as of 24 April 2020.
In 2019, ZSSK CARGO successfully received a grant of EUR 512,000 from the EC – Innovation and Networks Executive Agency (INEA) to partially cover the cost of retrofitting of freight wagons to LL brake blocks. A total of 2,050 ZSSK CARGO wagons will be retrofitted between April 2019 and the end of December 2021.

On Monday, January 14, 2019, the Noah's train was on its way, from Vienna to Berlin. The project is implemented under the Rail Freight Forward initiative, which was launched in mid-December during the World Climate Conference in Katowice, Poland.
